Welcoming Bret Govert as Our Indianapolis DC Operations Manager

As we’re gearing up for the grand opening of our new full-service distribution center in Indianapolis, we’re also welcoming some new friendly faces to the Porter Pipe family! We’re pleased to announce the newest member of the team is Bret Govert, a veteran in the Indianapolis manufacturing market and Operations Manager of our new Indy location.

In this position, Bret will play an integral role in building out our service offerings and market knowledge as well as helping to lead in strategic planning for future expansions. In addition, Bret will work directly with General Manager Frank Porter to ensure our Indianapolis team is equipped with the same vision, commitment and values as the rest of our Porter Pipe family.

“My biggest strength is getting teams motivated to join the Porter way and getting everyone to see that vision. The new Indianapolis crew isn’t all existing Porter team members, so they need to learn the Porter way and be motivated by it, explained Bret. “People have to understand what we are investing in this team and where it can go; that we’re all a part of this and have a ‘sky is the limit’ energy. We have a huge opportunity. My role is helping support that and finding avenues of business I can help us get into.”

This is a role Bret is acutely qualified for after 14 years in manufacturing and 12 years in the Indianapolis market. After graduating in 2005 from Depaw University, Bret initially joined Ferguson Enterprises in the warehouse, working his way up through inside counter sales and industrial sales to becoming the Fort Wayne Branch Manager and eventually Commercial Sales Manager for the entire state of Indiana. He then took his talents to Central Supply Co. before finding what felt like a true cultural fit here at Porter Pipe.

“I think it was the genuine personalities at Porter that drew my attention. I could tell they were real, not even just when talking about work. That’s what meant the world to me. Pride goes into everything, even how we paint our racks. It’s who we are and it’s contagious. That bleeds over into listening to customers. Porter continues to evolve by asking what more we can do at the job site.”

Bret understands firsthand the importance of knowing and differentiating between markets, and his longstanding career in Indy manufacturing helps him understand the real value our team can bring to the table.

“A lot of what Porter Pipe is bringing to Indy is the job site services. Job site trailers have been around forever, but it’s about how you package it, how you track it and so much of the detail from the time they place an order all the way through to when the contractor opens the back of it. That’s what Porter understands,” expressed Bret.

We couldn’t be happier to have found such an experienced, fun and hardworking new member to help lead our Porter Pipe family. It’s already clear to us that Bret embodies what it means to deliver partnership with purpose, and we can’t wait to see what incredible work he delivers as Operations Manager in Indy. Welcome to the team, Bret!
