The Inspiring Work of Our Partner, Lazarus House
For the past two years, Porter Pipe’s commitment to giving back to our community has been backed by our partnership with the incredible Lazarus House. An emergency shelter for transitional living, Lazarus House helps those in need get back on their feet with a variety of programs and case workers dedicated to supporting their wellbeing and independence.
When our President, Bud Porter, was informed about the shelter by one of our own Porter Pipe customers, he knew that our values aligned with their mission to change lives for the better. Ever since then, we’ve continually donated to the cause, and we couldn’t be prouder of the incredible successes Lazarus House has achieved this past year.
In 2018, Lazarus House provided care for 234 individuals in need, averaging 46 guests per night, 16,817 nights of shelter and 50,451 meals for guests and the community.
As for their guests, Lazarus helped them get on the right track to success, ensuring:
- 100% achieved continuing education or job training goals
- 100% obtained transportation
- 100% received case management
- 100% had access to legal services
- 95% received medical care
- 87% received dental care
- 87% received substance abuse services
- 87% received mental health services
- 81% moved into transitional or independent housing
- 78% obtained or improved employment
We’re honored to aid Lazarus House in their noble mission to fight poverty and homelessness. Our culture is built on a belief in giving back to those around us, both inside and outside of the Porter Pipe family, and we look to Lazarus House as a prime example of how that belief can make a truly impactful difference. We’re so grateful for our partnership and can’t wait to see all the good that it will bring in 2019.
