Pre-Construction Planning for Success with Dr. Hanna
At Porter Pipe, we are dedicated to improving our customers’ businesses by not only offering our time and service, but also offering learning tools to help you succeed through comprehensive training courses. During our most recent customer training session, we partnered with Viega once again to welcome back Dr. Awad Hanna from the University of Wisconsin-Madison to speak with our customers about the benefits of pre-construction planning.
Pre-construction planning allows for greater project success and profitability, and Dr. Hanna made it easy for our customers to understand the process and better prepare for future projects. Attendees were given information on activities that can be utilized for projects of any size or risk as well as in-depth overviews of each stage of the pre-construction planning process. These stages include:
- Stage 1: Bid Preparation Planning
- Stage 2: Pre-Construction Planning
- Stage 3: Job Site Management Planning
Dr. Hanna’s designed his to help our customers better understand not only the importance of pre-construction planning, but also how to evaluate a project’s characteristics, the reasons for successful and less-than-successful project performance, and the best practices for developing a pre-construction plan.
As arguably the leading researcher, practitioner and consultant on construction craft productivity in North America, Dr. Hanna has been in the industry for nearly 25 years, authored more than 100 journal articles and 15 major books on construction-related productivity, with a special emphasis on construction methods, the cumulative impact of change orders and construction risk management.
With his expertise, our clients left the session feeling confident and ready to implement their new skills. “[The session was] very informative and did not waste any time,” said Frank Marchiori of R. Carrozza Plumbing Co Inc. “[Pre-construction planning] will make us more prepared for all future work.”
