Living Our Culture: Joe Carbray

The entire Porter Pipe family lives our values every day, both on and off the job. But sometimes, members of our team go so far above and beyond in exemplifying our culture, we have to give them the recognition they truly deserve. That’s why we’re introducing Living Our Culture, a closer look at the team members who are sharing our values and spreading our culture beyond the Porter Pipe community.

For our series debut we’re recognizing Joe Carbray. One of our Delivery Pros, Joe was recently honored by the city of Berwyn for his selfless act of saving a hit and run victim while on the road. Last November, Joe was driving through the Berwyn area when he discovered a pedestrian injured in the middle of the road. The pedestrian had been struck by a hit and run driver, and Joe didn’t hesitate to take action to ensure the victim’s safety until professional help arrived. Joe’s actions saved a life, and after providing the Berwyn Police Department with footage from his dash camera, also aided the authorities in their search for justice.

We’ve always known Joe to be an exceptional leader. As mentioned in Joe’s Leading by Example feature just last year, he builds relationships with his team members and customers that extend beyond service and set an example for our entire team. None of us were surprised to learn that Joe sprung into action when help was needed, and we are extremely proud to be represented by him on the road. The Berwyn Chief of Police, Michael D. Cimaglia, was incredibly thankful for his actions as well, stating “Your keen sense of observation, instinct and lifesaving actions resulted in the victim remaining safe until the arrival of emergency responders[.] Thank you for your outstanding citizenship.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. From all of us at Porter Pipe, thanks for being a hero, Joe.
